QUESTIONS and OBSERVATIONS

Why is it immoral to take a person's money with a gun, but not with a politician? That is essentially what happens when tax money is not spent on the common good, but rather transferred from one citizen to another. In that light, the real question becomes, can theft become moral by majority vote? And if so, can torture? ........... Why is it that folks seeking to keep their own property are often seen as more greedy than those seeking to take it away? Yes, I speak of socialists. Giving away other people's money requires no generosity or virtue whatsoever. It only requires a disregard for the private property of others ........... The members of the liberal California Supreme Court politically favored gay marriage and had no trouble fabricating a rationale to impose their will on citizens. But, why do we continue to allow those appointed to interpret the law to become unelected legislators? Our founders envisioned judges, not kings. Since they insist on legislating, why not limit the damage by making them run for office every 4 years and just give them two terms? ........... Life surely isn't fair. Just ask Joe Lieberman. John McCain was pumped up by the media for being a maverick, bucking the conservative ideology. What bravery, what enlightenment! However, when Lieberman dared buck liberal ideology, he was backhanded like a sex-offending leper applying for a school cafeteria job. While John winds up the Republican standard bearer, Democrats treat Joe with less respect than chopped liver at a vegan picnic ........... Recently, politicians convened to praise the success of the war on drugs. Let's review. We spend more than 50 billion dollars a year on the program, yet cannot keep drugs out of middle school or even prison. Gee, by that standard, could we conclude the war on poverty was a thunderous victory and perhaps even that distribution of the swine flu vaccine saved humanity? ........... Water always runs downhill. Likewise, human beings tend to seek the easy way out. In doing so, they are often willing to defy reason. Instead of exercising and eating less, some will spend hundreds of dollars on various magic pills or gimmicks. Increasingly, common sense takes a back seat to childlike hope. What else could explain the brisk sales in penis enlargement pills, rub-on headache treatments and the like? The ground seems well prepared for a snake oil salesman peddling pie-in-the-sky promises of hope and change, doesn’t it? ........... Despite the disastrous results of Jimmy Carter's windfall profit tax, many politicians are more than willing to trot them out again. Sure they know better, but they also know how voter anger, class warfare and economic ignorance can be exploited. Do they think we are idiots? They could be right ........... Everyone knows gas is expensive, but some don't realize how bad it has gotten. Just go to 7-11. It's nearly as much as water ........... Many people see big business as a greater threat to their well-being than big government -- but it is not even close. Big business cannot lay a mitt on your liberty ........... George Bush and John McCain serve to illustrate that if not for Democrats, there would be very little reason to ever vote for Republicans.
